Hampton, NH (May 25 2011) - C3I, Inc. working with the Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority, MRRA has signed a lease for hangar space and adjacent land to operate a marine aviation and boat systems integration facility at Brunswick Landing, site of the former Brunswick Naval Air Station.
C3I designs, enginers and manufactures advanced control systems and communication hardware which are the foundation of IMS integration efforts.
C3I and IMS are working closely with the MRRA staff to refurbish the former corrosion control bay and offices in Hangar 5 to get them ready for operation by the end of this year. The new facility will provide approximately 15 office suites, a state of the art training/video conference room, several electronics laboratories, a complete ACCS® shipwide control network, and 12,000 feet of open space with high ceilings for equipment integration and testing. The office suites will be home to multiple national marine equipment vendors as they integrate their sophisticated systems prior to delivery to customers.
The new facility will be named the BrunswickAirSeaIntegrationCenter (BASIC©) and will occupy about 40,000 sq ft of hangar and runway apron space.
“ BASIC will provide the focal point for the integration of existing and new innovative marine technologies manufactured by otherMaine,U.S.and international partners to provide fully integrated systems and increased overall delivered system capability, while reducing cost and risk for our customers.” Said William “Bill” Peterson, President of the new venture.
“Additionally, we want to preserve the heritage of the former Brunswick Naval Air Station, and to that add the maritime heritage of the region.” Mr. Peterson went on to explain the site will include a conference room with ship models, and historical artifacts gathered from across the State ofMaine, chronicling the evolutionary history ofMaineas one ofAmerica’s great shipbuilding centers, from the early 1800’s to today.
Approximately 7 U.S. National and International companies have identified BASIC© as a potential site for the integration of their technologies into a final ship system before delivery.
“BASIC© provides us a unique opportunity to bring the focus of several multi-billion dollar corporations involved in the marine industry to the State of Maine” said Bill Peterson, “And with this focus, we hope to expand the reach of IMS and the region into exciting new emerging marine opportunities.”
IMS expects to employ approximately 30 people by the end of its first year. C3I, Inc of Hampton NH., parent of IMS, plans a multi-million dollar investment into the facilities and equipment that will become BASIC©.
C3I’s flagship ACCS® hardware and software marine control and communication system provides an enterprise wide communication and control system for marine vessels. Installed on multiple US Navy vessels, and at the Eglin Air Force Base JSF-35 LHA Training Site, the system provides a flexible, integrated, control and communication system for marine vessels.
